General Terms and Conditions — Portuguese Lessons for Foreigners

1. Identification

2. Scope
These Terms and Conditions apply to all Portuguese-for-Foreigners lessons provided by About eu, both to individual students (B2C) and to companies (B2B), and form an integral part of the Informed Consent Statement signed by the parties.
3. Lesson Length and Format
- Standard length: 60 minutes per session
- Format: online (Zoom/Google Meet) or in person in Eindhoven, NL
- The lesson starts at the scheduled time. Late arrival by the student does not extend the session.
- If the teacher is more than 10 minutes late, the lesson is extended or rescheduled at no cost.
4. Booking and Rescheduling
- Lessons are booked at least 48 hours in advance by email or through the contact form
- You may reschedule with at least 24 hours' notice, at no cost, up to 2 times per pack (single lesson: 1 free reschedule)
- Rescheduling with less than 24 hours' notice is treated as a late cancellation
5. Cancellation Policy

Group Lessons

Accepted exceptions (with documentation where applicable): sudden illness, family emergency, technical failure of the platform.
6. Payment
Single Lesson
- Payment up to 48 hours before the lesson
- Accepted methods: bank transfer
Lesson Packs
- Full payment at the time of purchase
- The pack is activated on the date of payment
- Validity: 6 months from the date of purchase
- Lessons not used within the validity period are not refunded, except where the teacher is at fault
Group Packs
- Each group member pays individually
- The group pack is valid for as long as the group remains active
- If a student leaves the group, their individual pack keeps its validity so they can move to another group or to individual lessons (subject to availability)
B2B Invoicing
- Invoice issued under the terms of the agreed B2B contract
- Payment term: 30 days after the invoice date
7. Refunds

8. Groups — Specific Conditions
Formation and Level
- Groups are formed of students at a homogeneous level (at most one sub-level apart on the CEFR scale)
- Session 0 (level assessment) is mandatory before joining a group
- About eu reserves the right not to accept a student into a group if the level is not compatible, and will propose an alternative
Level Progress
- If a student progresses significantly, a move to a higher-level group may be proposed
- The move is made with 2 weeks' notice
Dissolution of the Group
- If a group is left with only 1 student because the others leave, the student may continue individually at the individual lesson price, or wait for a new group to form
Maximum Size
- 4 students per group. About eu does not accept more than 4 students in a group session.
9. Founders Pack (first 10 clients)
The first 10 clients have access to the Founders Pack: 20% off the 10-lesson pack, in exchange for a written and/or video testimonial authorised for publication. The discount is applied at the time of purchase, subject to confirmation that places are still available.
10. Progress and Assessment
The teacher shares progress feedback periodically (typically every 5 sessions). The student may request a level assessment at any time. About eu does not issue diplomas or level certificates — for official certification, the CAPLE exam (University of Lisbon) is recommended.
11. Teaching Materials
Materials created specifically for the student are for their exclusive personal use. They may not be reproduced, shared or used commercially without written authorisation from About eu.
12. Recording of Sessions
Sessions are not recorded by About eu by default. If the student wishes to record for personal use, this must be stated in the Informed Consent Statement. Recording group sessions requires the consent of all participants.
13. Limitation of Liability
About eu does not guarantee that a specific language level will be reached within a given period. Progress depends on the student's commitment, regularity and practice outside the sessions.
14. Force Majeure
If the service cannot be provided because of force majeure, the teacher will notify the student as soon as possible and lessons will be rescheduled or refunded.
15. Changes to the Terms and Conditions
About eu reserves the right to update these Terms and Conditions. Changes apply only to new agreements entered into after the date of the update.
16. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms and Conditions are governed by Dutch law. In the event of a dispute, the parties agree to attempt mediation before going to court. Competent court: Eindhoven, the Netherlands.
